Floods, abrupt changes, and a new release

Hi

Those of you who follow me on social media may have seen that a couple of months ago we were flooded out of our Sydney house. Luckily for us, it was rented and we’ve now moved to a lovely new place in a different part of the city, close to the river. It’s absolutely beautiful, and though the last few weeks have been somewhat chaotic and stressful, now that life is settling back into some kind of normality, I think I’m going to really enjoy living here. It’s funny how your life can change so unexpectedly in a moment.

For obvious reasons, the writing went on hold for a bit, but today I finally finished the last set of edits of Out of the Ashes and it will be ready to release in August. Hooray! My cover designer (the wonderful Misha at ArtMishel) is just putting the finishing touches to the cover and the book will be available to preorder at the end of this month. I’ll keep you posted.

To celebrate, Another Time and Place and The Officer’s Affair are now available from ALL major online bookstores as well as Amazon. You can check them out here:

Book of the month

The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion

I’ve read an interesting and varied set of books over the last few weeks, some for research and some for pleasure, but the stand out read is easily The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. This has been on my want-to-read list for a very long time, and is a stunning and profound meditation on the nature of grief. Written by Didion with remarkable candour and insight during the year following her husband’s sudden death, it follows her emotional journey to recovery. A beautiful and compelling read that moved me immensely.

What books have you read recently that touched you profoundly?

Till next time,

Happy Reading!
