I think other authors will understand this: After I hit publish on my book I go through a long withdrawal process where I don't want to look at my book or even think of it for a long time. So marketing it is a really tough gig.
Anyway, I am an author spotlight in one group on facebook this week, and I got contacted by them and asked to provide them with my advertising materials: excerpts, teasers, graphics and all that. And I realized, to my shame, that I didn't have any of those things lol.
So I went ahead and created some graphics and that is why next week will be "A Deal with the Earl week."
Another reason this week will be dedicated to this book, is because today, March 21st is the World Down Syndrome Day. How does it relate? Well, if you've read my book then you know that I have a character with Down Syndrome and it was really important to me to get her right.
I volunteer at a center for people with disabilities and special needs and I have a few friends who have Down Syndrome. However, getting it right historically and not offending people was a fine line to walk. I hope I accomplished it, if not, at least I tried my best.
I love Mary's character and I had fun writing her, getting into her head. I think she was one of my most favorite characters to write.
Anyway, please, spend this day spreading the word about people with Down Syndrome or donating to a local charity.
