Cover unveiling.
When I started writing my new series, I decided to dive a little more into the things I love. I adore Historical Romance. And as much as I love the light, feel-good Regency Romances, I also love action, adventure, grit and a bit of the mystical feel on top. So I went further in history into slightly darker times, searched out villains to turn into heroes and voila! The Shadows series was born.
All books in this series have slightly spooky undertones. But especially my upcoming release A Curse of the Wicked Scoundrel.
This book has everything I love:
?A scarred antihero #unapologeticallyvillain
?A smart ass heroine
?A realistic tale with supernatural elements
?Steam
?Action
?Adventure
This book is going to be released at the end of December, and it isn’t finished yet. But from the moment I had characters in mind, I wanted the cover that would communicate the feel of the book to the reader with just a glance. It isn’t easy to find a perfect cover for the book... Unless the stars align, of course.
As luck had it, I came across the gorgeous picture of @asta.darling on Instagram and immediately fell in love with it. It was just perfect! Beautiful, graceful, dark, mysterious. I knew I found the one and only picture for my cover!
And to my surprise Asta let me have it ? This was about 6 months ago and I was dying to show it to you all ever since.
If you love all things Regency, 18th century and cosplay, then you probably already follow @asta.darling. If not, then you just found the gem ?

Let's talk about the Beauty and the Beast trope.
It is one of my most favorite tropes in any book and is my second favorite Disney movie of all time.
What is so appealing about the trope? Is it the heroine accepting the hero despite his physical flaws and seeing him past his frightful exterior? Or is it that beauty tames the beast?
We had this conversation with @fennaedgewood recently, and we discussed how some of the books seem to concentrate on the "disfigurement" aspect of the hero, while in my opinion it is completely unnecessary for a book to qualify as a beauty and the beast trope. The lady doesn't even have to be a beauty for that matter.
The real crux of the trope is that a beastly man, an angry and selfish man turns into a caring, selfless human being because of love.
Love turns the beast into a prince, because he learns to control his temper and put other people's wellbeing before his own.
On another note, am I the only one who was disappointed at the end of the movie when the beast turned into a dandy prince? I preferred the beast the way he was.
What do you think the trope is really about? What are your favorite books with this trope?

I am incredibly bad at hyping my own new releases. Why? Because by the time I publish the book I:
? Read it over 20 times
? Edit over 5-7 drafts
? Redo the cover 20 times
? Publish on various retailers
? Proofread before each submission
? Make a paperback version
? Make a blurb and edit it 10x times
? Send out ARCs
By the time this entire process is done, I am not excited about my book anymore lol. It’s old news.
So I decided, screw it. I am going to hype my books when I am excited about them, all out of order, because Who cares, right? ?
Anyway, currently my hype book is Secrets of the Wicked Viscount.
If you read book 1 in The Shadows series, you know this book will follow Jarvis and Olivia.
Let me just tell you, these two are my favorite couple so far. They might beat my crush over Evie and Gabriel. ?
Jarvis is sweet and tough and hilarious at the same time. Olivia is unapologetically herself, although world wants her to fit their mold.
This book is fun, adventurous and will have slight halloween-ish vibes ?
And that’s the cover image ?
