Lots of folks over the past decade have found themselves in new places and parts of the country. Some are calling it the "great sort," as folks search for more likeminded places and more opportunity to build life and community.

Jim Gale is one of them. He absconded to Florida to chase his dream... building a permaculture community paradise - without permits or other such problems.

His goal?

"To demonstrate freedom on every conceivable level."

So he purchased 51 acres in central Florida -

which they named Galt's Landing Farm.

And they started to build.

Water. Energy. Food. Animals. Plants. People. . A true permaculture community from the soil and water up. 

And... they came. People, pollinators, native plants. Yes. 

But also regulators. 

The people left full. The regulators? They left, empty handed. 

Jim is truly convinced that the government has no claim here.

But on occasion, they leave with something even better. Tears. Inspiration. A glimpse into a simple idea - maybe instead of preemptively punishing folks, perhaps some folks really don't need big daddy government watching their every move and decision and stopping them before they get going, because they are good people who are going to steward their land and all its inhabitants well.

We are excited to have Jim joining us at Rogue Florida in two weeks to share more about the community they are building in Florida, and how they are going about it in ways to inspire others, including those in government to let goods folks get this done, even if it is done Rogue.
