{{contact.first_name}}, what's your favorite fantasy trope? 🤔

image

Hi, !

As of today, I completely finished the last remaining edits of The Angel's Vow and submitted the final manuscript to Amazon for publishing!! Eeeek! I'm so excited! 😃

With the Bloodcaster Chronicles coming to a close, my brain is already spinning with ideas for my next series! But I want your input as well! I'm thinking of exploring a different fantasy sub-genre, like royal fantasy or epic fantasy (think Throne of Glass). Usually, I pick a favorite romantic trope, and I build a fantasy plotline around that. So tell me: which trope would you like to read about next?

So, which one would you like to read about next? Or is there one not on this list that you'd love to see? Reply to this email and let me know! 😊

This segment is for those of you who are writing and looking to improve! Please keep in mind I am not an expert by any means, but I do have a lot of experience that I would love to share with you! 🙂

This week's tip is on Getting Feedback!

You probably already know this, but in order to make it as an author, you've got to develop a thick skin. That means no bursting into tears when someone gives you helpful criticism (not even joking, I used to do this lol).

You may not be ready to send your baby out there for others to rip apart just yet, and that's okay! Baby steps. But one day, you'll have to venture out there. Yes, it will hurt, but after the first time, it gets so much easier. And once you develop that thick skin, you'll be able to step back and see your work through fresh eyes - and you'll think, "Huh. The story does work better that way!" and it'll be so much more incredible than you ever could've imagined!

If you feel like you're ready for publishing, I highly, highly recommend you get beta readers and/or developmental editors to look at your book first and give you feedback. When you've worked so long on a project, you can't see it clearly because you know the stages it's gone through. Your readers won't. So, get a fresh outlook on your story and how it reads. You don't have to take every piece of advice you get, but at least consider it. Mull it over. Take a step back from your story and look at it objectively and think, "Would it work better this way?" Taking constructive criticism is an important part of writing - even if there's no writing involved! It's a process, and it definitely takes practice.
