Hi, !
Giveaway Winners!
I know you all are most anxious to learn the winners of my paperback giveaway. For starters, thank you so much to everyone who filled out the survey! It's always a good thing to understand what your readers like. I always want to give you the best content I can! Surprisingly, most of you prefer New Adult and Adult novels instead of Young Adult. And most of you also prefer a bit more steam! So I will keep all that in mind with my next project π
Congrats to the three winners: Amanda, Desiree, and Barbara! I've already sent the winners emails with the details π
A New Jayne Story!
While Joss Walker and I are working on Master of Shadows (we've finished outlining and are ready to dive in head-first!), we've also just finished a fabulous prequel short story titled The Eighth Road. It follows Sofia five years before Tomb of the Queen as she tries to destroy her magic to keep Jayne safe. It was a fun little adventure to write! It'll be coming soon, and don't worry, as a loyal subscriber, you'll get to read it for free π Stay tuned! In the meantime, here's a cover reveal for the story!

This week's tip is on: Writing to Market!
This is mostly for indie authors, although it's also helpful if you're going the traditional route! There's a difference between writing to trend and writing to market. People often confuse the two. Writing to trend is picking a topic that's hot and writing about it, but this changes often. Writing to market, based on Chris Fox's Write to Market (highly, highly recommend this), means picking a genre you love and honing in on a subgenre market that's hungry for more. For example, I knew I wanted to write fantasy, so I researched the subgenres of fantasy until I found that YA dark fantasy was an ideal market that wasn't overly saturated like some of the others. This process involves looking at the bestsellers and their rankings (Chris Fox's book goes over all of this). Definitely recommend doing this, especially if you're going indie. Writing what you love is important, but it's also important to iron out the right categories and subcategories for your book to get yourself the most visibility.
