BIG NEWS! Librarians and witches and grimoires, OH MY!

image

Hi, !

I have a big announcement!

I'm so excited (and honestly, a little starstruck) to announce that I've officially teamed up with fantasy author Joss Walker to co-write her series, Jayne Thorne, CIA Librarian. Joss Walker is the fantasy pen name for J.T. Ellison, New York Times bestselling thriller author of over 25 titles, including HER DARK LIES and LIE TO ME. Book One of the Jayne Thorne series, TOMB OF THE QUEEN, released in June, and we're currently working on Book Two, MASTER OF SHADOWS. Take a look here!

Tomb of the Queen is a fast-paced urban fantasy about a nerdy bookworm named Jayne. She stumbles across a magical grimoire and gets thrown into a world of magic portals, CIA agents, Irish mythology, and necromancers. I love the quirky and clever quips from the characters and the stunningly-developed magical world. Give it a read! You won't be disappointed 😊

This segment is for those of you who are writing and looking to improve! Please keep in mind I am not an expert by any means, but I do have a lot of experience that I would love to share with you! 🙂

This week's tip is on Writing Conferences!

The pandemic has definitely thrown a wrench in writing conferences, but many of them are still going on virtually! I highly recommend you attend a writing conference at least once in your life. All writing conferences have dozens of workshops available that will help you hone your craft as well as get expert advice on your particular brand, whether it's nonfiction, self-publishing, speculative fiction, romance, etc. You can find anything applicable to what you're writing.

That's not the only benefit of writing conferences, though. Many of them offer opportunities to pitch literary agents in person. I've done this several times, and it's an amazing experience. Nothing compares to being able to talk about your book face-to-face and show just how excited you are about it. It also allows you to establish relationships early on with agents you might keep in touch with later. Plus, pitching your novel is great practice! If you get the opportunity to do this, I highly, highly recommend it!
