Hello!
This past weekend I was in Tupelo for Tupelo Con. It's a smaller show, but normally fun and pretty good for sales. That was not the case this year, at least for sales. It was fun, and I got to see a few author friends I don't see much. I also went out to dinner with a few of them, so that was nice.
I did make a small profit, so it wasn't a complete loss. It just didn't meet my expectations based on the last couple years I've been there. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll do that one again,
On the writing front, I've finished Crown of Feathers. The writing went smoothly, which is great. I'm hoping to have it released before May 18, as that's when I'm flying to Scotland. I'll be gone for 15 days between Scotland and Ireland, and I know I won't have time to work on my writing related stuff during my travels. I'm confident I'll have it published before then, but we'll see!
I also submit a short story to Craig Martelle for his Expanding Universe anthology. I sent the first 500 words, and he said he liked it and where it was headed, and asked me to send over the complete story. I've turned it in, so if I get accepted, I'll be sure to let you know and let you know when the book launches. I don't generally write sci-fi (I have one series), but it's been fun to work on something a little different.
Tomorrow I'll be at a local-ish winery selling books, but I'm home on Sunday so I'll be getting some writing done this weekend. After I return from Scotland/Ireland, I'll be at Origins in Columbus, and Realm Makers in St. Louis. If you're attending either of those, come by and say hello.
Until the next newsletter!
Below you'll find a free ebook promotion, a deal on one of my own books, an Author Spotlight, and an upcoming Kickstarter from one of my author friends!
What I’m reading: I've almost finished with Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim. I'm enjoying it. The writing is simple but the story is engaging.
What I’m watching: I rewatched The Fifth Element. It's a favorite of mine, and it's such a fun watch every time.
What are you reading/watching?
As always, a huge thank you for the support!

Author Spotlight
Wayne has 2 books I'd like to bring to your attention. I met him a couple years ago at a convention. He's a great guy, and I'm happy to introduce you to his books if you aren't already familiar with them. He also has a children's book series that is narrated by David McCormack (the voice of Bandit from Bluey).
A man blessed with powers of healing and magnetism…but cursed with bad luck.
Fulgar Geth's life has been one of grief and hardship. With his strange abilities to heal and wield forces of magnetism, he is often shunned and misunderstood. Unable to catch a break by following society's rules, he and his lifelong friend Binny take to a life of vagabond thievery, hoping to scrape by until better days. Their dream: to follow the clues around an ancient talisman to a place of power, a power they believe will grant them a destiny free from the rule and control of others.
But circumstances take a turn for the worse, sending Fulgar into a tailspin of depression and regret that nearly costs him his health, his faith, and the woman he loves - a bright, spirited fugitive named Jinx, who has lost the memories of her past.
Meanwhile, a dangerous Shadow Mage pursues him, intent on harvesting Fulgar's powers. A mysterious order of protectors steps in to help guide Fulgar's path and fight the persistent presence of dark forces. With everyone's interests revolving around his powers, Fulgar must decide whom he can trust and what it truly means to have faith.
Join Fulgar and his comrades in a story of friendship, adventure, action, magic, and personal discovery in this prequel installment of the "Heroes of Time" series!
The Black Sun sets. A Follower is chosen. Nightmares and reality collide in this sequel to The Healer and prequel to Murdoch's Choice.
After the battle that took the woman he loves, Fulgar is left with grief...and Binny Marvello, the friend he and Jinx barely managed to save. But the dark magic that afflicted Binny leaves him erratic—lucid one moment, possessed and spiraling the next. Fulgar doesn't give up, desperate to find a cure for Binny.
Except that Binny doesn't want a cure.
When the darkness returns to Binny, it doesn't beg. It demands that the Shadow Mage's implements be returned. And when Fulgar is cursed with blackheart—a creeping cold that eats at his strength and spirit—he realizes that time isn't just running out for Binny.
It's running out for him.
To find the truth behind Jinx's disappearance, free Binny from the darkness tightening its grip, and free himself of the blackheart curse, Fulgar must return to the trail that started it all...and step into the Temple of the Black Sun, where the Shadow Mage was forged.
Some doors should never be opened. But if Fulgar is truly a healer—if he's truly a spiritual guide—then he'll walk into the darkness anyway.
Even if he doesn't walk back out.
