Hello!

This email was scheduled to go out this past Friday, but for some reason, my email provided didn't send it.

This past weekend I was in Huntsville for the Huntsville Comic and Pop Culture Expo. It's always a fun show, and this year was no different. I put a large booth together, and we had 8 authors this year including myself. We also had Ingrid Seymour, Alfred Muller, Silas Reams, A.G. Porter, J.B. Mangold, Scott Blasingame, and David Trotter. If you aren't familiar with their books, you should definitely check them out.

I love doing live events. No matter how much time I spend behind the keyboard, nothing quite compares to meeting readers face-to-face and having conversations about stories. Events like this one remind me that books are more than words on a page. They create connections. Seeing someone pick up a book, read the back cover, and get excited never gets old. It’s also encouraging to see return readers who come back for the next book in a series or to see what's new since last year. I'm always exhausted once the show is over, but in the best way possible, and every one of them leaves me feeling creatively energized and grateful.

One of the biggest factors in how well the event went was our booth placement. We were set up right in the center of the main foot traffic, which meant a steady stream of people passing by all day long. It gave us constant opportunities to engage with people. As a group, we collectively we did over 5 figures in sales, which is incredible. It was an increase over last year, which I expected, because last year we didn't have a good placement.

I'm still busy working on Crown of Feathers (Talonbound book 3), so nothing new to report there. I'm roughly about about 40% into the story, so I'm nearing the halfway point, but I've still got plenty to write. I hope you've enjoyed the other two books. Between it and my Thread Witch series, people seem to really be interested in them just as much as my dragon rider books, so that's exciting to see.

My next event is May 2-3 in Tupelo Mississippi. Tupelo Con is another fun show, and last year it was sadly cancelled due to tornado weather. But this is year 10, and I think it's going to be the biggest year yet.

In other news, I'm working on putting together a new Mirstone anthology. This one's theme will be about legends/heroes, and I can't wait to see what the authors come up with. I've finished my story for it, and I'm working on editing it in between writing sessions. I'll let you know more about that as the final details come together.

Until the next newsletter!

Below you'll find a free ebook promotion and a link to my friend Silas Reames's Kickstarter!

What I’m reading: I've started Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim.

What I’m watching: I watched War Machine on Netflix. It was a neat concept and a fun movie.

What are you reading/watching?

As always, a huge thank you for the support!

Richard
