"Halleluja" on the harmonica

Doesn't sound half bad

Hello ,

The title relates to my google searches this week, which because I got distracted by another story idea (surprise, surprise) are mostly music related.

Anyone actually know how to play a harmonica?

Back to my first question: Capes vs No capes

I just thought I would give an update on how it's going.

For those who don't remember, on the opening email when you first sign up, there was a question asking if you're in favor of capes, or no capes. Some kind people have answered that email, and I keep a tally of the responses, because I'm a scientist and that's what we do.

No capes is winning.

Not by a lot. It's actually far closer than I thought it would be, but I thought all you capes enthusiasts would want to know, they outnumber us now.

Out to the editor

Well, the first book is off to the editor, which hopefully means it will come back pretty and sparkly and new. It also means I have to start looking at book covers, which is dangerous.

Side note: I broke down and bought book covers over the last two weeks. Looks like I'm not getting out of this author thing without writing..... nine books.... Of course not one of them is for a series I have already written, meaning I broke the first and only rule I have about buying covers - have the book written before buying a cover. Oh well. THEY'RE SO PRETTY.

Offer to ARC?

What is an ARC? It stands for Advanced Reader Copy, and the point of it is for authors to get people reading and (more importantly) reviewing books before they're officially released. Since reviews can make or break books, and people are more likely to buy things that have reviews (whether good or bad) it's an important part of the process.

It's very likely I'll be looking for ARC's in the next newsletter or two to start building a list. It's a free book (but one of mine (sorry)), in exchange for a review on Amazon or Goodreads. If you're interested in reading the first book of the Undercity Heroes series, and writing a review (good or bad), then keep an eye out for the signup.

Kick off your summer reading:

Our promos this month are the "We are Young" promo, which focuses on YA reads (of all genres). I mostly try and stick to UF, paranormal and fantasy here (with some sci fi kicked in for funsies) but I like branching out every now and again. And with it being summer for you in the Northern Hemisphere - though winter here - I thought it was a good time to experiment.

The second promo is more my style. Paranormal, Fantasy and Magic. There's a lot of books on here (my memory says 115?) but be aware, not all of them are full books. Some people have excerpts of their full novel, which can be an awesome way to see whether it's worth the $5

So long, stay cool (or warm) everyone.
