The latest ballot returns show that Republican voters are turning out at lower rates than Democrats. It appears that the recent “No Kings” protests and the orchestrated government shutdown may have been little more than tactics to energize Democrat turnout ahead of the November elections.

If that’s the case, Republicans — and all voters who want to regain control of their local government — risk seeing victory slip away in races that could easily be won.
