Ballots Burned For Hours - Kimsey's Charter Amendment 18 Is Failing

BALLOTS BURNED FOR HOURSimage

WATCH ONE MINUTE VIDEO OF THE FOUR HOURS BURNING

Last week, I was the first to release surveillance footage from the Fishers Landing ballot box that was firebombed on October 28th (similarly to the October 8th incident in downtown Vancouver). Shortly after my release, several media outlets began sharing the footage—possibly taken from my posts—which shows a large, fiery explosion from the ballot box just after the suspect drives away.

Following additional public records requests, it’s now confirmed that the ballot box burned for almost FOUR HOURS before any attempt was made to extinguish the fire.

Here’s the timeline:

  • 2:35 AM - the ballot box is attacked
  • 4:08 AM - ONE AND A HALF HOURS LATER, a citizen (not a gov official) discovers the ballot box burning and appears to call 911
  • 4:19 AM - VPD arrive on the scene
  • 5:32 AM - ONE HOUR & 13 MINUTES LATER, Sheriff Bomb squad officials arrive.
  • 6:30 AM - Efforts to extinguish the fire and access the box begins

Not only did the fire suppression system fail (possibly because it was never designed for ballot boxes, per the manufacturer’s statement), but ballots were left burning in the ballot box for almost four hours before any attempt was made to limit the damage.

Why did this take so long?

KIMSEY'S CHARTER AMENDMENT 18 FAILING BY 258 (as of 11/14)image

CONFLICT OF INTEREST??

Auditor Kimsey authored Charter Amendment 18, which would expand restrictions on proposed initiatives and allow government officials to hinder petition efforts, championed it to Council for approval to get on the ballot, recruited government officials to write the “FOR” statements in voters pamphlet, defended the deceptive ballot title in court (withheld key component from voters which violates RCWs)…

And now Kimsey is in charge of counting the votes for his Charter Amendment.

The “reject” lead is slowly dwindling to now just a 258 lead.

HOW ISN’T THIS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST?

ICYMI: VICTORY: WinCo Reverses Course To Avoid A Trial

Late last week, WinCo contacted me that they have second thoughts about going to trial and wanted to go back to an original plan for an agreed stipulation, something that I was willing to do back in April of this year but WinCo changed, without informing me, and decided to continue the lawfare to trial.

Was it the judge's comments in the Motion To Dismiss hearing where he expressed doubt about WinCo's chances of proving the facts of the case? Was it that there was information in discovery that they'd have to hand over and they didn't want that to come out to the public? Or was it the fact that WinCo was hoping to coerce me into handing over information that is protected by the 1st amendment and past court decisions protecting political activities and speech? Or maybe it was that I was hours away from switching to a high-dollar Pudget Sound attorney that would surely blow WinCo's case apart? I'm not sure, but I'm very grateful to everyone who supported me through this lawfare and stood by me. It was truly grueling for me and pulled me away from very important efforts that I was planning and needed to focus on for this week's election. Was this the enemy's plan to keep me off the battlefield more? Even though it was tempting to want to continue to expose WinCo's accusations as false and completely exonerate my name and reputation, I prayed and decided it was best to resolve so I could move on to more important issues. As of now, both WinCo and I have signed a stipulation that reiterates that WinCo is not a public forum space, something I've agreed with all along, and that I maintain my innocence in the case.
