OUTRAGEOUS! COUNCIL SLOW WALKS BONUSES FOR OFFICERS YET RUSHES & HIDES FROM THE PUBLIC 2K BONUSES ($3.1M Total) FOR EVERY COUNTY EMPLOYEE

On Tuesday, the County Council unanimously passed a “retention bonus” giving 2k to all employees w/o posting the staff report to the public, basically it was withheld from the public and approved and the public never got a say. 3.1 million used out of ARPA for this! Yet, the body cams are slow walked to a sales tax vote and out on the backs of citizens during runaway inflation. ARPA could be used for the initial investment for funding of 2 yrs and find the money for ongoing once it stabilizes and real costs to fund ongoing is realized.

Yet, the County Manager has slow walked correctional deputies bonuses for months past deadline (Dec 31) & the Council has kicked the can to voters for body cams in a sales tax yet was able to hurry money into other county employees pockets so fast that they couldn't post it for the public ahead of time.

The County manager withheld the staff report and only added it to the agenda verbally at the start of the meeting. Then the Council heard from the new HR Director a short presentation but offered NO DATA supporting why they needed "retention" bonuses and then ALL THE COUNCILORS VOTED YES and then some gushed all of the employees... as if they took the brunt of the last couple of years. It's been hard on many, but do you know who has had it the worst? The elderly (locked up and many died alone) and children that are now seeing a 4.5 times increase in suicide attempts nationwide.

The County Manager posted the staff report over 3 hours after the vote. Yet, during the meeting, it was clear that all the Councilors had reports and some were consulted the day before but the County Manager, Kathleen Otto, couldn't get it posted for the public before the meeting? Of course she could've but she clearly didn't want to... they wanted to spend 3.1 MILLION dollars from ARPA money without the public having a say... and of course, no money for sheriff deputies still (they won't get these retention bonuses).

Representatives are there to represent the citizens & not to give bonuses to already well-paid & benefitted county employees.

Representatives are to restrain the government on our behalf but the elected representatives keep working harder for government staff and unelected bureaucrats than for ordinary citizens. WE MUST ELECT NEW PEOPLE THAT WILL FIGHT AND DEFEND CITIZENS OVER BLOATED BUREAUCRACY!

Election Training for Election Observers Is ONLY From NOW TO JUNE 15th!

Don't expect others to be involved so you don't have to. Get involved and become an Election Observer now. All you have to do is watch this video and email four secret words provided throughout the video and you'll become an election observer. This training closes on June 15th so you need to watch the training video that is just under an hour long. So, watch the video & then email them the four “secret” words and you’ll be set as an election observer.
