Greetings ,

Quick update—we've got 25 signature stations all over Clark County and are on the lookout for more (Click HERE to see all the different locations).

In case you missed it, our first ad just dropped in The Reflector, and get ready for a blast because we're putting together a big campaign for the final 60 days.

Right now, it's all about rallying the troops and getting volunteers trained and out in the right spots to snag those signatures. We've got some rockstar volunteers doing the rounds, chatting with businesses, hitting up churches, and grabbing those signatures, but guess what? We need more.

We're needing 35 awesome folks to become VIVs (Very Important Volunteers). These are the folks committed to grabbing 500 signatures, either by marshaling others or hustling out there themselves. Snagging these 35 VIVs is make-or-break for the REC Initiative—half of the 35,000 signatures we're aiming for. We've got the supplies ready, and we'll hook you up with the best spot near you or pair you with others. But here's the deal, we need you.image

We're on the verge of a game-changer for our elections and sending a message loud and clear not only to the rest of the state but also to the other Home Rule Counties (six other counties in WA). You don't have to just grumble about it; you can change things up.

We have 13 VIVs on the team already, so we just need 20 more. Imagine this: just 20 more folks committing to grabbing 500 signatures will be the game-changer to get the Restore Election Confidence Initiative on the ballot in November 2024. Let's make it happen!

DID YOU KNOW??

The state supreme court has noted that home-rule county control of elections is specifically exempt from a separate constitutional provision imposing uniform standards on elections [Henry v. Thorne, 602 P.2d 354, 355 (Wash. 1979) (“The amendment expressly provides that any county adopting a home rule charter is exempt from the uniform election provisions of article 11, section 5 (amendment 57).”]. It is unclear, however, whether the state legislature may preempt home-rule counties with respect to elections if it does so expressly. [Id. at 881 (“[C]ounty home rule expressed the intent of the people of this state to have ‘the right to conduct their purely local affairs without supervision by the state, so long as they abided by the provisions of the constitution and did not run counter to considerations of public policy of broad concern, expressed in general laws.’”)] You can read more HERE
