Hearing is so important. Speaking is so important. Years ago my friend’s son had

meningitis and lost his hearing. My friend was a missionary at the time and his son

was just a baby. Everything changed for their family. Their work at training their son

was consuming.

God kindly puts the healings performed by Jesus into His word. Those healings

remind us that we each have a disability that eventually leads to our death. Those

healings also remind us that we can look forward to the day when our own disability

will be healed.

Our passage today gives encouragement in respect to how Jesus performs His

healing work. The healing of the deaf mute was so complete that he could begin

speaking immediately. God’s work in our final transformation to being sin free will

be complete. In the mean time trust in the powerful savior that will one day make

you perfect in His presence.
