This month, my newsletter turns 1 year old. They sure do grow up fast... you mean to say I've been writing these for a whole year already??

~ 🏡LIFE UPDATES🏡 ~

Our vivarium is officially done. We added some moss for the critters to sit on something soft, and an entirely new tree area for the geckos to climb in. Along with a water filter, appropriate heat and lighting, and all the crickets they could ask for, the little fellas are living the good life.

I have been attending some tournaments for my favorite fighting game, Blazblue Central Fiction, at a local college starting in March. I'm still developing my skills but I'd been doing pretty okey: managed to get 3rd at both events, the first being with 5 entrants, the most recent having 8 (1 disqualified though...) ~Not too shabby!~

~ 🐈FORSAKEN🐦‍⬛ ~

I'm pleased to report I've more FORSAKEN goodies! I've finished another character illustration, featuring Laurada, the secondary protagonist of this story.

Laurada is a headstrong woman teeming with personal pride, an esteemed martial artist and a proficient wielder of Light Ether. With her brother, the two siblings studied magic under the teachings of their father. Where her brother had struggled to control his power, Laurada was a remarkably quick learner. As she aged, her curiosity for the world and what knowledge it could offer in the Etheral Arts grew uncontrollable, and so she left her family to seek out new opportunities.

One fateful day, devastating news would reach her; Larson, her father, a once prestigious master Etheral Artist, was murdered by a rogue sorcerer wielding unusual power. She would soon depart for home to find and confront this killer, as well as see to the safety of her brother, whose current fate is unknown...

Here's some older works of her going back to 2013: mostly due to my evolving style and understanding of human anatomy, she has gone through some major growing pains...

I have also finished inking the 4th page of the Prologue. Last issue I'd shown the first two pages, so here are the next two.

Page 3 presents the progression of a deadly torrent sweeping over the land. Raging storms and violent winds tear the land apart, dragging trees and creatures into the chilling waters. Above the storm, a bird cloaked in shadows with eerie red facial markings emerges from nowhere to salvage the defenseless young eagle from the sweeping waves, and departs just as swiftly into a black void, dragging the unconscious bird in its talons.

Page 4 exposes where the black void lead to, a dreadful-looking realm called the "Crooked Snare". The portal opens above a crumbling stone shrine, from which blood flows as water from the central fountain down to winding streams. The shrine is completely enclosed by a forest of dense trees and thorns, lit by a scarlet moon against a pitch black sky.

Fun fact: all the letters are my own writing, using a brush pen to make for a scratchy, traditional horror look. It's a lot of fun!

Cult of the Old Gods

After seeing this guy on an album cover, I wanted to try drawing something like him, but I tried so long and couldn't get the look I wanted, so I just ended up drawing him as is instead. Honestly couldn't beat the original anyway.

Cryokinesis

Glacius from Killer Instinct 2013, who I initially finished the sketch for this last December and have been working on it all this time. Ice is one of my least favorite things to draw in vector, as it is so time-consuming, but it's pretty neat when it comes together nicely.

E.W.G.F. v2

A revision of a work from several years ago, of Kazuya Mishima from the Tekken series of fighting games. Major changes include:

• Shrinking of Kazuya's head, removal of his right ear, and slight adjustments of eyes and mouth
• Improved lighting and tweaks to effects and BG elements
• Removal of all Devil parts (wing, horn, purple skin)

Excalibur (1981)

If you are as big of a fanatic as I am of the fantasy genre, this is a true must-see film. A telling of the origin and legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, this movie is peak medieval fantasy. It also features possibly the best version of the wizard Merlin put to media, portrayed excellently by Nicol Williamson.

~ 🪴GARDEN UPDATE🪴 ~

Now that spring has arrived, my wife has gone full-steam ahead on working in the garden again. Unfortunately, a bad storm knocked over and destroyed our greenhouse, so we're in the process of setting up a new one and have moved the plants to our enclosed patio. That hasn't stopped her plants from sprouting!

My wife has also started up a new project, creating a little woodpecker home, from a hollowed out tree trunk.
