My first momcation of 2026: he pushed back, I went anyway

Hey ,
I just got back from my first momcation of 2026, and I need to tell you about it.
Costa Mesa, California. 3 nights. 4 days.
I was invited back to Orange County (yes, my second time a year—that's how good it is), and even though there was some pushback at home, I made it happen.
Because here's what I know: if I don't advocate for myself, no one else will.
Here's what those four days looked like:
🛏️ In bed by 7:30pm most nights (the kind of sleep that actually restores you)
🍽️ Dining and nightcaps at Michelin-star restaurants (because I deserved it)
🎨 Touring the Orange County Museum of Art (quiet, beautiful, inspiring)
🚶🏾♀️ Long walks with no destination, no timeline, no one asking me for anything
🏺 My very first pottery ceramics class (hands in clay, mind completely present)
🧘🏾♀️ A sculpt hot yoga class that kicked my butt (whew!)
Sis, it was perfect. I needed it... literally everything a momcation should be.
But let me be real with you for a second: this trip almost didn't happen.
There was resistance, questions and the subtle (or not-so-subtle) guilt trip about leaving. You already know how that goes...
And, then I realized I had a choice: cancel and keep the peace, or push through and take care of myself.
I chose me.
Not because I'm selfish, and definitely because my family doesn't matter. But because I've learned that when I pour from a full cup, everyone benefits. When I come back rested, inspired, and feeling like myself again, I'm a better mom, partner and version of me.
This is why I'm so passionate about momcations.
They are NOT just vacations. They're reclamation and proof that you can prioritize yourself and still be a great mother. And I want this for YOU in 2026.
Maybe you're thinking:
- "My partner would never support this"
- "I don't know where to even start"
- "What if something happens while I'm gone?"
- "Is it even worth the hassle?"
I hear you. I've thought every single one of those things. That's exactly why I created the Momcation Magic E-book.
It walks you through everything, step by step:
✅ How to have "the conversation" at home (scripts included)
✅ Where to go based on your budget, timeline, and comfort level
✅ What to pack, how to plan, what to do when you're actually there
✅ How to handle the guilt and come back feeling transformed
Download it here:
2026 should be the year you finally take that trip. You know, the one you keep thinking about but haven't booked yet. The one where you discover what it feels like to put yourself first without apology.
And, I want to hear from you: What questions do you have about planning your own momcation? What's holding you back? Hit reply and tell me—I read every single response.
Let's make this the year you stop waiting for permission and start booking the trip.
You've got this. And I've got you.
Love,
Patrice
P.S. That pushback I mentioned? It faded the moment I came back home rested, happy, and fully present. Sometimes you have to show them what's possible instead of asking for permission. Start planning your trip now: MOMCATION MAGIC
