Hi ,
Whether you’re a long time user of Panjango Online or are new to our gamified world of work, we have some exciting updates to share with you about the platform's newest additions and improvements.
Our free virtual world of work has more to offer than ever, making career learning more engaging and interactive for young people all over the UK and beyond.
Panjango Online puts learners' knowledge and skills to the test by exploring more than 450 different career options, each with its own set of contextualised "real world" challenges that simulate what it's like to work in those roles.
From Sports Coach and Hairdresser to CEO and Nuclear Scientist, our challenges offer a glimpse into the daily life of various professions.
If you need a refresher on how to use the site, our User Guide is available here. Alternatively, you can log in to the platform here and explore our exciting new features, including...
Localised Cityscapes
In partnership with the South Yorkshire Careers Hub, we have launched four new localised cityscapes exploring 100 real workplaces and hundreds of exciting jobs available to students in their area.
Our first batch of local cityscapes focus on South Yorkshire (the home of Panjango HQ!) and we plan to continue adding more local cityscapes covering other areas of the UK in the coming months.
Students across the country will enjoy exploring the roles on offer and work that takes place within exciting and nationally significant employers like McLaren, Boeing, BT, Capita, Ikea, Aviva or the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
To access the local cityspaces, simply log in and then select Change Area on the top menu.
New Careers
We've significantly expanded the number of careers featured on the platform with challenges and job information now on more than 450 careers in total!
With everything from Aerodynamics Engineer to Football Manager, there is guaranteed to be a selection of career options to excite and inspire every student.
We’ve collaborated with the big employers featured on our local cityscapes to bring to life some of their popular job opportunities with challenges based on the real work undertaken in those roles.
And if you still find we're missing a student's favourite career choice, we’d love to hear from you so that we can add it to the platform!
Teaching Resources
To better support your use of Panjango as a valuable classroom resource, we have created a new set of Teacher Guides - both for Career Leaders and core Subject Teachers - to make it easier to embed Panjango's contextual learning into your school's lessons.
Additionally, we have created worksheets for Career Exploration and Activity Reflection for students to complete while they explore Panjango Online and then at the end of the lesson and think about their future.
Futhermore, we have created a set of Treasure Hunts to guide students around pre-defined journeys featuring some of our favourite challenges.
Each Treasure Hunt is accompanied by a lesson plan and teacher guide, and we have five that are available to download for free focusing on Maths, English, Science, Skills and Culture.
The ‘Make Your Own’ template is fully customisable with instructions so that you can create your own custom Treasure Hunt that includes the challenges that you have pre-selected around whichever theme or topic is most relevant to your lesson.
The full set of free Panjango Online teaching resources is downloadable here.
You will also find in the folder a visual User Guide and a Frequently Asked Questions document to help you and other teachers understand how to use the platform to its full potential.
Virtual Tours
Our new virtual workplace tours offer a fully immersive experience allowing learners to roam behind the scenes and discover the work that goes on in a range of exciting workplaces.
Each tour includes workplace information, job profiles as well as interactive challenges and fun facts to engage learners with the setting.
For a couple of examples, explore the innovative small businesses in residence within the Digital Media Centre here or, for a cultural venue, explore the fascinating history of Worsborough Mill here.
We currently have three virtual workplace tours live with five more completed and awaiting sign-off from the venues. More tours are in the works and will be available very soon.
Students can even explore them using a VR headset if they prefer, though this is not required.
Look out for the play symbol on buildings (▶️) to launch the tours within the local cityscapes or check out our dedicated virtual tours webpage here.
We're working to add more tours in locations around the country so watch this space for more - or contact us if you know of an employer who may be keen to have a virtual tour of their own!
Platform Improvements
We’ve worked hard to improve the overall functionality of the platform, most notably through:
- improvements to the Filter system
- Share Session tracking (so you can see how many students have accessed the links you create)
- general speed and load time improvements
These changes are designed to make moving around the platform easier and help you to integrate Panjango into your lessons or tutor time.
In addition, we have updated our artwork to reflect contemporary design trends, which will provide a fresh and engaging experience for students returning to the platform.
Accessing the platform
Panjango Online is entirely free to use. You can log in to your account at www.panjango.online - or if you have not yet used the platform it takes just 30 seconds to register.
As always, we'd love to hear your feedback on how you’ve used Panjango Online or if you have any suggestions for further improvements or a career you would like us to include.
Or if you have any questions about using the platform just hit ‘reply’ to this email and let's chat!
We're thrilled to share our latest content with you and hope you enjoy exploring it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Best regards,
Jon and the Panjango Team
