Is my meditation "working"? Free session this Monday

Ever wonder if your meditation practice is "working"?

It's one of those sticky questions that can be hard to get your head around. Some teachings even discourage one from having goals or craving results.

Yet we DO have goals or long for change.

While it doesn't help to try to measure one's progress every day, there are some important ways we can check periodically if our meditation practice is on track.

Here are three questions you can ask to ensure that you’re practicing properly:

  1. How am I relating to what’s happening right now?
  2. What’s needed?
  3. What am I learning?

The first question helps broaden our focus beyond WHAT we are doing to HOW we are engaging the mind. This expands the field of practice from the objects of attention to the process of living. The second question invites our intuitive wisdom to the fore, while the third supports us to continually reconnect with a sense of purpose.

If you'd like to dig deeper, or could use a "reset" for your meditation, join me tomorrow, Monday night at Spirit Rock. We'll meditate together and explore ways to gauge your progress. (The session is offered on a sliding scale with a zero-cost option.)

Warmly,

Oren
