April Newsletter. The Writer's Life.

imageWe have officially entered the fourth quarter, and I shall not lie, I haven’t changed much of anything. I am writing less to give myself a mental break and quilting more to give myself a different creative outlet, but I am not working out like I should. In my heart, I am killing it. In reality, I’m sitting in my office wondering about how much protein I need to take in. Then I head over to my fiber intake list to begin stressing over not rescheduling my colonoscopy, and I stop.

I take out my journal and begin making a note to myself on all the things I find no joy in doing but are necessary.

Then I began to make a list.

I hate editing, but love it at the same time. I hate plotting, but love it at the same time. I want to go deeper and explore emotions before the humor, but sometimes it tires me out. I had to get some help to help me dig deeper into the emotions. I wanted to get past the laughter and really connect with the characters to make them come alive in a very human way. I found Tome. (No affiliation with the product or brand).

I love finding new images of characters, who are exactly how I picture them in my mind, like Mustang. He is a member of the Western Crew of Technicians, which are the horses. Don’t ask. I haven’t gotten that far yet.

There are days I hate getting dressed, However, I am making myself take a shower every day and ordering easy-to-wear clothing like this cute jumper. I can even throw on my ratty sweater for comfort, or real shoes if I have to run to the market. Get one here.

Today I needed to meditate. I turned on my breathing Buddha and took a moment with myself. Daily guided breathing to help calm & focus your mind during the day or promote a peaceful night's sleep. A simple & fun meditation tool that can also cultivate mindfulness to help you live in the present moment. Yeah, I sit and look at the pretty colors.image

The one thing I was really thinking about that would be uber cool as an author, was to have my own seal to emboss labels for the front of my books. Yes, I have a few awards winners that have a seal on the cover, but what if, the ones for books signings, actually said, signed by OG? EEEK! I love this. I have to get me one.

The last thing on my list is a label maker. I have one that is bulky and takes up too much room on my desk. so I wanted to stream line a little. And found this one by Phomemo. Just think, custom stickers, per event as giveaways on your table.

Okay, that's enough of that. On to business.

Tuna salad is always a good choice for high protein. The great thing about making Tuna salad, it can go inside a croissant, make a sandwich, stuff it in a tortilla, or have it hot in a tuna melt. Better yet, layering a scoop of tuna salad over a bed of field greens with a slice of boiled eggs, cucumbers and tomatoes makes for a great lunch.

A heated footrest for under the desk. EEEK! Release week and starting a new book is tough. There are a lot of hours in a seat, with back aches and my neck popping from sitting too long with bad posture. I'm trying this to see how it works.
