October and Sunflowers and Honey are Here!

Welcome to October Bibliophiles.
Good morning , I hope you are doing well this Tuesday morning. It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over, and what a year it has been. At times, I look at all that has transpired in the last nine months, then think, man, am I ever grateful for you. Why? We’re both still here, fighting, licking, scratching at the dirt, but we are here.
Here shall lead us into our word of the month, and theme which is maintenance. When you see the word, you think of cars, upkeep on your home, or even that sixties model of your human body, but what you don’t think about when it comes to maintenance, are your relationships. No, not your marriage or significant other, but those who share your journey in this life. Those relationships also need to be maintained.
We all hit a wall where it truly feels as if you just can’t process another single issue. The mental bandwidth to hear one more gripe, argument, or conversation about masks, vaccines, or seeing your neighbor on the news at the school board meeting acting a fool, is just too much. Deep inside, you long for the early days of being locked inside the house, but then there was also a toilet paper shortage, and that idea is quickly dismissed. I’m here to tell you, if you haven’t already figured it out, peace of mind also requires maintenance.
My relationship with my sanity has become priority number one. As a person who likes to create the pretties, the last thing I want or need is to have my gray matter junked up with issues I have no control over. I’m not going to lose sleep over people who don’t think the rules apply to them, or those in your life who want to pop up when it’s convenient. Sadly, if I feel as if spending time with me is a matter of convenience, then, trust me, I am going to be conveniently unavailable for the foreseeable future. I can scratch off one more item to maintain.
Maintenance planning can be applied to any aspect of your life since the four basic principles are all the same. The four general types of maintenance philosophies can be identified are corrective, preventive, risk-based and condition-based maintenance.
Corrective maintenance is taking care of a problem before it becomes a real issue. Preventative maintenance is routinely checking, cleansing and lubricating the machinery on a routine basis to lessen the chances of catastrophic failure. I like the idea of risk-based maintenance because this shifts the focus from task to thought, analyzing data, patterns and information to choose a proper course of action. Last but not least, is condition-based maintenance. Maintenance is carried out when certain indicators give the signaling that the equipment is deteriorating and the failure probability is increasing.
This strategy, in the long term, allows reducing drastically the costs associated with maintenance, thereby minimizing the occurrence of serious faults and optimizing the available economic resources management.
Yes, all of these can be applied to the 2012 Toyota Camry, but it can also be applied to relationships in your life, including the one you have with your mental health. At the end of the week, the month, or the year, we want to come out better than we started the journey. Whether we are better off financially, physically or mentally, you have to determine where is your life requires routine checks and which checks you’re performing based on the current conditions which surround you.
In the interim, carve a pumpkin, make a pie and prepare yourself to fall in love with Jaimie and Symphony.
Loads of love,
