A few weeks ago, people in the UK (including myself) eagerly awaited summer, tired of the long, cold winter.

We longed for sunny skies so that we could frolic to the beaches and throw some meat on our BBQ sets.

Now that summer is here and temperatures have soared, many are complaining about the heat.

Reminds me of the saying - "Be careful what you wish for," which applies not only to the weather but also to business.

When you run an exciting new business, especially a shiny new startup, it’s common to wish for rapid growth.

At first glance, explosive expansion seems ideal. More users, more revenue, more growth!

However, without proper planning and infrastructure, fast growth can lead to problems.

I know far too many startups in the tech space that moved too fast; whether it was diversifying their product range, buying more assets or even hiring new people.

It is only a matter of time until they start seeing customer churn or worse, run out of money.

Careful planning and realistic expectations are key to turning wishes into sustainable success.
