It's Time for a Video Author Visit!
Our visit this month is with our New Classics founder (and award-winning author) Phyllis Wheeler. I had loads of fun talking to her about her middle-grade time-travel series, Guardians of Time, and especially her New Classics featured book, The Dog Snatcher. Click the image to enjoy these short, 5-minute videos!
Here are some lessons I have learned for those actively parenting and homeschooling:
- Share our your thought and prayer life with your kids.
- Have family devotions. If Dad isn't up to leading them, Mom should.
- Ask a Christian friend to mentor your child in the faith.
- Involving your children in acts of mercy and other good works is great, but no substitute for faith discussions.
- Do not expect Sunday School and youth group to substitute for very personal sharing from you.
- Do not expect a Christian school experience to substitute for very personal sharing from you.
- Practice what you preach. Kids are on the lookout for hypocrites. Are you one, today?
- It goes without saying, pray for their faith daily, and ask others to pray for them as well. Only the Holy Spirit can change hearts. A praying grandmother is wonderful.
- Last but not least, give them uplifting books to read written by Christians. The best books, of course.
