KANDI J. WYATT - MOTHER OF DRAGONS

Hi, I’m Kandi J Wyatt, mother of dragons—yes, my dragons breathe fire. Unfortunately, they didn’t get a chance to do so last week at church (our annual harvest carnival wasn’t held this year.)

As a mom, I know the pain of trying to Christmas shop for your kids while keeping it within budget and not just adding more stuff. This month, I’m giving you the opportunity to purchase family-friendly fantasy books for your kids at a discount. Using the code, you’ll gain 10% off your entire order. NCSGNOV

But what books are best for your kids? Glad you asked. Most of my focus is at those ages 8-18, but that doesn’t mean adults won’t like them either. So starting with the youngest in your home, they may enjoy Tea for Dragons. It’s “a fun imaginative picture book” that “will spark creativity among children and maybe they will be inspired to host tea parties.” At least, that’s what Readers Favorite said about it.

Starting at age eight, along with some of your younger but strong readers, Myth Coast Adventures is your best bet. With illustrations to help those younger ones stay focused, this trilogy is a “delightful tale of friendship told through an epic journey that all begins with the discovery of an egg.” I like to say this is E.T. meets How to Train Your Dragon. It helps those in rural settings feel validated that even in little towns something special can happen and enables those in urban settings to gain a haven while they dive into the pages. (An Unexpected Adventure, book 1 of the Myth Coast Adventures, is my featured New Classics book here on the website, with a free study guide!)

Another good read for eight-year-olds up is the Dragon Courage series. Each book is a standalone, but they build on each other through characters. For instance, book one is about twins, Ruskya and Duskya, while books six and seven are about Duskya’s granddaughter. These dragon riders learn life lessons of family, friendship, mercy, peace, forgiveness, and belonging. This is also the series that reluctant older readers (sixth grade was my specific example) will read.

By junior high, teens are ready for a bit more adventure, maybe some romance, and definitely adventure. Four Stars over Ardatz is my tidal locked planet. What’s that? One side is always facing the sun, and one side is always away from the sun. I have several series in this world, most designed for junior high and up, but one that may allow younger readers to explore the world. So far only Sovereigns and Journeys have been published.

I also say that To Save a Race and The One Who Sees Me are for high school and up. They are Biblical retellings of Esther and Hagar.

So, use the code to get your discount on books for Christmas, and dive into Four Stars over Ardatz: Sovereigns with the dragon coloring book. Based on my King David retelling with dragons (the last two books of Sovereigns), the coloring book has dragons as well as Psalms written to fit into the fantasy setting. Click the button or the image to download the pages!

. . . writes “family-friendly fantasy that brings light and hope” and is the author of An Unexpected Adventure, for which you can download a free study guide here. Kandi lives with dragons, most in human form--and some even blow fire! She spends her days providing space for teens to be themselves, inspiring them to be more than meets the eye, and spilling hope into their world.
