Normalize working from your public library

LET'S NORMALIZE WORK FROM WHEREVER
I've had a library card in every country we've lived in since 2008: Canada, Australia, Ireland, England, Canada (again).
One card, gives you FREE access to:
✅️ Parking / bike racks
✅️ WiFi / catalogues of books / online courses
✅️ Events / workshops / business support
✅️ Playgrounds / recreational facilities
✅️ Local entertainment (bookmobile watching!)
✅️ Forest bathing (location tbd, one of my fave libraries in Brisbane was near the inner city beach 😎🌴🌊)
It's served me through:
💻 FT studies + PT work
💻 Remote work contracts
💻 Hybrid roles
💻 Speaking gig prep
💻 Event promos
💻 Countless online upskilling + coaching sessions
💻 Three kids born in two different countries within six years
What have I learned? You don't need a coworking space membership, especially when you have young kids and your days/times/sleep routines can be unpredictable.
Parenthood changes your identity, your body, your home life, your workflows and so much more. It makes sense to switch up your work space and rituals every now and again to meet you where you are at this season in life.
Let's normalize working from third spaces or amongst the messes at home. It may include delightful surprises like the glorious forest bathing in my video below. You gotta do what you gotta do!
If you agree, are curious and would like to learn more about how you can work with your existing resources, time, energy, skills and tools, you may LOVE the FREE Remote Work (Virtual) Retreat for Parents I'm hosting June 1-5, 2026.
🌴🌊 Remote Work (Virtual) Retreat Details ⬇️
😎 Completely online, you can join from: Your home, a local library, school drop/pickup, grocery store parking lot, gym, sports practice sidelines, cafe, hiding in a laundry room or closet (iykyk)
😎 Mostly async, one live gathering is optional to attend, camera on/off, show up while lying horizontal with your kids crawling everywhere, between feeds, at the park or on the go
😎 Focused on mindset, workflows and rituals to support energy management, for the ones always giving to others
😎 Audios, resources and event details unlock daily from June 1st-5th, 2026
As I write this to you, I'd like to acknowledge I'm not the same version of myself that originally hosted this retreat in 2020-21.
Since then, we've added another kid to our family, I've entered another decade, been welcomed into the wonderful world of perimenopause, joined a gym and have PTs (this is new for me), need more rest time as I recover from injuries and have lived in ONE house for almost a decade. Wild, completely wild.
I'm sure you're also a tad different to how you were a few years ago!
That former identity was fun:
Always up for a last-minute trip, balancing on uncomfortable barstools if it meant I could get an internet signal, receiving calls from flight boarding lines, juggling more than one project, job or commitment at a time and able to eat, sleep, rest, mostly whenever I wanted to.
But this current version has been hard earned:
Parenting three kids since 2022. Rebuilding strength after an accident in 2023. Working through losses, failures, life changes, illnesses, celebrations and milestones. Moving around with invisible tethers linked to small humans I'm responsible for. Less concerned about impressing strangers or the WiFi signal, more concerned about what my intuition is telling me and whether this place has public toilets.
What's been interesting is how much wellbeing, mindset, rituals and workflows to better support energy management as a parent AND professional have become even more relevant.
Even though I started adapting to this lifestyle pre-kids, without a permanent address, as a freelancing digital nomad, I keep finding ways to apply these tools and learnings to my life as a parent living in Canadian suburbia. They still work.
The increase of AI, outsourcing of ideas, acceleration of change, resurgence of IRL events, pace of life in 2026, are making it seem event more needed during this time.
I'm going to hazard a guess:
- You won't be delegating parenting your kids 24/7 any time soon
- You won't be creating an AI Agent who can regulate your nervous system
- Your kids (and you) will keep getting older the longer you're on this newsletter list
- Your experiences of parenthood while being a professional, haven't exactly been what you expected they'd be
- AND no one is really knocking on your door to help you figure it out
So, this is me knocking on your door/inbox: Not trying to fix everything at once but inviting you to press pause for a few minutes in early June.
Join us for a gentle AND practical reset: Refresh your setup, recalibrate to a pace that feels good to you and get a bit more playful with how you do the work.
There's nothing wrong with changing things up because we all know, life will do that for you whether you take the initiative or not!
Q for you: Care to share an interesting third space / work from wherever setup you've managed to make the most of in the moment?
✨ Have a great start to your weekend,
