A NOTE FROM AMY
🚼📊 TLDR: Get your ideas out of your head and into the world, you never know what could happen and it will most likely turn out better than you expected (or at least you'll learn something new in the process).
Last week I shared a video on my social channels about tracking the podcast listener countries to date as a reminder for you to:
Start the thing, share the idea, make it messy, show up imperfectly, use what you have, rinse and repeat.
You never know who may hear themselves in your own stories and lived experiences.
When I received a recap last year from my hosting platform, it said 19 countries, which I was delighted by because it's been organic reach to date.
But I didn't realize it wasn't lifetime listeners. Last weekend, I logged on from our kid's soccer training to download the list of country names to read out in future.
Imagine my surprise when I found it's actually at 56 countries...as in 25% of the map of the world...where people like you and me have tuned into my independently owned podcast since 2020!
🎢 From recording during 30-minute lunch break blocks around a two and four year old at home full-time with us for Seasons 1 and 2.
💸 To getting approached by a national entrepreneurship organization to sponsor the podcast in Seasons 3, 4 and 5 — all done through a difficult pregnancy, early baby arrival and postpartum period where kid number three wouldn't take a bottle or pacifier, while the older two began elementary school.
🧠 To Season 6 being recorded and edited post car accident with our youngest, acquired brain injury and other injuries...relearning how to do it all again from scratch and having to pause midway through for rest and recovery, over and over again...still a WIP.
🎊 Summer 2025 marks five years (5!) of interviewing, hosting, editing and producing the Mixing Babies And Business Podcast from our home in Ottawa, Canada.
I'm grateful to all of the guests who've spent time with me to date, to the listeners who turn the podcast on as they go about their day parenting AND to the version of myself who decided to wing it and see what happens.
And I'm only getting started...stay tuned for future opportunities! Because you're on this newsletter list, you'll be the first to hear about them.

POLICY: A great reflection on the current U.S. government’s family planning updates from fellow parent and marketing communications leader Christine Michel Carter, who joined me on Season 4 of the Mixing Babies And Business Podcast, “This isn’t policymaking. It’s reproductive propaganda. The U.S. holds the highest maternal death rate among high-income countries.” Read her full article via LinkedIn here.
POLICY: Refreshing to see the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer meeting with fellow parent, activist, writer and founder at Mother Pukka, Anna Whitehouse, and her baby at 10 Downing Street in this video shared via his LinkedIn post. Read her reflection on the visit via her LinkedIn post.
POLICY: Thanks to Tori Dunlap, Money Expert for keeping it real on why the White House’s latest developments aren't going to fly with women (and children) via this Instagram post. She has also unfortunately been experiencing harassment online and shared her experiences in this Instagram video for the first time – a powerful reminder to keep showing up, not let them win AND own your platform where you connect with your people because social media isn’t designed to keep you safe.
POLICY: Joeli Brearley, founder and former CEO of Pregnant Then Screwed, has shared she’s been working behind the scenes with Baroness Penn to table an amendment to the Employment Rights Bill to make it a legal obligation for employers in the UK to publish their parental leave policies via this LinkedIn post.
POLICY: April is Black Maternal Health Month and the Canadian Centre For Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) has shared a LinkedIn post from founder Mesi - Meseret Haileyesus, on the presence of reproductive economic abuse.

WELLNESS: Thanks to graphic designer Tyler Spangler for the public service announcement (PSA) ’Confidence comes from trusting your ability not knowing everything’ via his Instagram post.
WELLNESS: A reminder from fellow parent and keynote speaker, Gifty Enright on why wellbeing is more than yoga and fruit bowls and what real support looks like in her Balance & Belong LinkedIn newsletter.
WELLNESS: Another brilliant PSA from graphic designer Liz Mosley ‘Running your own business really is a rollercoaster full of highs and lows - don’t let anyone fool you into thinking they don’t have lows…’ read the full message via her Instagram post.
