A NOTE FROM AMY
Things over here at Mixing Babies And Business™ HQ haven't happened instantly – many opportunities have been the result of seeds I've planted over the past nine years.
I've completed application forms, recording notes, designing creative and attending meetings from my mobile phone...while feeding a baby, sometimes one handed or in the evening hours after the kids were asleep.
And now as they're growing up – from a third space (the car, coffee shop, library, soccer dome) between appointments, sports practices, school drop offs or pickups.
Things don't always manifest overnight but when they do, you'll know it.
Momentum has been building but it still requires showing up, dealing with challenges as they arise and finding ways to do the work around life and parenthood.
Visibility, measuring growth, being resourceful, embodying the work you want to do and have, while creating space for the kind of family life you want to experience based on your own intentions and values can be a powerful thing.
What can feel like painfully minimal growth is sometimes the slowing down in order to speed up we can only recognize in hindsight – perspective can make all of the difference.
The best thing I've discovered about living, working and parenting aligned with my values?
I don't have to remember a script, worry about saying the wrong thing, being underprepared or unqualified.
Because I am, who I am, who I am.
There isn't a distinct separation between my home, life, work and creative areas as I'm mixing babies and business in real time with three kids during this season of life.
I DO have boundaries and try* to remain present with what I'm focusing on and who I'm with. I DON'T believe I need to apologize for how I choose to engage with life and work.
I'm dialled into my intuition, self-trust is at an all time high and I know my lived experiences can help others navigating the future of work with kids and doing things differently.
When I say there's never a perfect time to get started and you don't have to figure it all out first, this has been true for me so far in life and work...has it been true for you too?
And if not, maybe you're ready to give less energy to 'appearing put together' and more to 'rolling with it' a go?
If you're a parent who feels called to embody your values, advocate for your needs and invest in yourself – while connecting with others like you, riding this wave of life – you're welcome to join us any time in 2025.
🐬🌊 Have a great week/end + start to the next season we're in!
