You get to decide AND then the real fun begins

A NOTE FROM AMY
TLDR: Not turning into a bro marketer (you can exhale now) but it's a Full Moon in Scorpio on the first day of May and FINALLY spring weather here in Ottawa. This energy is not designed for hiding! What haven't you been 'owning' about yourself lately? Your brain will try to stop you...not because it's a bad idea but because it wants you to survive. But you can always change your mind and stop playing it 'safe'.
Been avoiding the term 'flex' as it relates to status, achievements and strength, but since it's a Full Moon day, let's go there.
My biggest 'flex'?
Never hid the fact I'm a parent in business spaces.
Privileged? Yes.
Intentional? Also yes.
Not everyone will want to cozy up to these ways of being but for those who do, this one is for you!
❗️Warning: I will admit to living at a level of self-trust, detachment from outcomes and playful curiosity many others run from.
👀 Scroll for some highlights over the past decade ⬇️
I'm always honest with you but I'm not always great at sharing the 'why'
Mindset work and affirmations didn't help me get better at public speaking, pitching and presenting (with kids and solo) in isolation.
Because when your
🏃♀️💨 Heart rate is beating like you're being chased by a lion
😶🌫️ Shame is trying to unpack itself in real time in front of an audience of strangers
🔇 Mouth and throat dry up to silence your voice and dilute your message
The body is only going to allow you to communicate to the level your current internal operating system and programming are running on.
This is not self-sabotage, this is self-preservation.
Your body, mind and nervous system are part of an intelligent and incredibly connected system designed to keep you safe (and alive).
Same, similar, known, routine = safe.
But this doesn't help you grow when what you truly desire lies beyond your comfort zone, your control and your front door.
When I became an accidental activist, it was largely because I was putting myself in highly unpredictable and unconventional settings.
I had done all these things (pitching, presenting, speaking, freelance and remote work) BEFORE having kids but hadn't a clue what would happen if I brought them with me.
Some people call it...
Exposure therapy
Rewiring the brain
Living on the edge
F around and find out
All have been true for me.
While I was going beyond my comfort zone, I was also...
Bonding with my baby
Being present with my family
Building self-trust in my voice and abilities
Deepening my presence and capacity to adapt
Not giving my power away to other people, places or things
So I began documenting it for other parents like me and building systems, rituals and routines around visibility = safety.
You don't need to be the loudest person to make your point. Your presence can speak volumes.
But you do need to get yourself in the room.
If you're ready to tap into another level of personal and professional growth WITHOUT sacrificing your wellbeing or time with family, these are for you:
- 'Show Up With Your Kids In Business Spaces' on demand mini workshop under 45 minutes with supporting PDF guide (for those ready to go all in NOW)
- 'Babies + Business: Mini Guide to Navigating The Corporate Jungle (With Kids)' is the OG free Mixing Babies And Business taster guide (created in 2018 and updated for the times we're living in for those wanting to explore their options)
- 'Mixing Babies And Business Foundations' is a 12-part on demand audio activation experience curated with rituals and resources to support energy management, communication and self-trust, as a parent in business settings making bold moves and building your leadership skills (been doing this for a decade now and there are always more layers to unpack, depending how deep you want to go!)
Everything I've created has been underpinned by the same core values, lived experiences, candid advice and resources from the perspective of a fellow parent of three young kids.
Why me? I decided early on I wouldn't apologize for taking up space, tending to our kid's needs or inconveniencing others with my presence in business settings.
Shaped by the fact I was a contractor working remotely, living away from our families of origin in another country, expecting our first baby, without childcare lined up.
Supported by not wanting to only go to baby groups, bfeeding on demand, practicing attachment parenting AND wanted to meet other adults to have non-kid convos without abandoning our needs.
Flexible schedules, upskilling or working in alignment with your values, while being present for moments that matter to you? Sign. Me. Up.
Why you? I've learned showing up imperfectly, asking for what you want, receiving it when it arrives in unexpected ways, acting without knowing all the details about how/if it'll work out, are all skills and abilities you can strengthen over time.
The negatives? No one will solve your problems for you or ask you to join in if you don't raise your hand to indicate your interest first.
No one is coming to save you and no one knows your body or your baby better than you.
No one who truly cares about you, your wellbeing and your success in life, will question why you're doing what you're doing (if they do, it's usually their own unhealed projections).
✨️ Confronting yes AND there is freedom in it. You get to decide. Or not. Ask me how I know.
