A note on 'retiring' and self-trust

A NOTE FROM AMY
Aries season energy has been coming through strong in our house, I always think it's better to know about it in advance and recalibrate as necessary!
TLDR: Living, planning and showing up by the cycles and seasons is one of the many practices and routines I have to keep things flowing in life, parenthood and business in my corner of the world. If you'd like to learn more hit 'reply' and I'll send you some intuitive ritual links and more details on strengthening your own self-trust, embodiment and presence.
For the ones wanting to savor this over a snack break or park play time...
Happy astrological new year! As a farm kid I don't really actively pursue a lot of change or plant seeds until the literal spring here in Canada. Today's Aries New Moon? Even better.
Thanks to my favourite astrologers, intuitive guides, the good 'ol Farmers Almanac, my ancestors and own inner wisdom, I'm more aware of these shifts and changes in nature and how they can impact us as individuals but life still surprises (and delights) me daily.
If this feels like it's coming out of left field for you, I apologize if I didn't fully show up as a human who identifies as a woman, relying on my instincts, bodily rhythms and unseen things before now, but it's always been this way for me and maybe you just never asked?
Whether you believe me or not, if you've been online in any way, shape or form this past week you would have seen many headlines, social media hot takes, evidence of many injustices and literal fiery things happening across industries, systems, countries and businesses.
How does this impact you on an individual level? Well I'd have to (or you would be advised to) look at your natal chart and those of your kids, to give you more specifics, but either way, today marks a New Moon in Aries with MANY other planets in the same sign.
I'm sending you this email to give you some ideas, maybe you're feeling inclined to...
🔥 make no-regret decisions, advocate for your needs, check your bank accounts (send the pitch, support your local businesses, send letters to MPs, tax return season)
🔥 shake up the energy and do something different (new route to work or the local park, declutter, begin a digital detox, show up in a new space, say a good NO and mean it)
🔥 ground your body (movement, nourish, sleep, pet the neighbourhood dogs, colour with the kids)
🔥 work fireside if it's physically possible (in the sunshine, by candles or with warm beverages counts in my books)
Follow what your body is telling you, if you can find the space and time to drop in and listen to it.
For me, it looks and feels like 'retiring' from the kind of activism I have become known for over the past decade.
I'm not going to be hosting in person events, sitting on live panels in front of big crowds, requesting in person meetings with senior decision makers or sacrificing my own wellbeing for others' comfort for the foreseeable future. As Ali Wong says, "I have suffered enough".
And this doesn't mean my work stops. It means it won't only exist if my hands touch it. Why? Because my intuition, body and inner knowing told me so and when it speaks to me so clearly, over the years I've learned to listen.
If you're like the many parents I've met since 2016, you may only be receiving a faint signal right now, an inkling, a nudge, a hollow feeling, a wanting or perhaps a cloudy confusion where you feel certainty should live.
Maybe it hasn't been safe for you to listen to yourself.
Maybe you've grown up surrounded by people who self-abandon, over function, people please or contort themselves for others' comfort, benefit or approval.
Maybe being small was what made you friends, earned you love, felt less threatening, more digestible and likely to be 'a team player' at work.
Maybe your voice has been trained to mask what you really feel but your body will always betray that part of you when the time comes to speak up.
Maybe you are at a crossroads between who you used to be, what you thought you wanted, where you are now and what you feel approaching you in the future.
Trust me, I know what it's like, how it feels and the uncertainty of it all. Been there, worked through it or have had life and work circumstances happen to me which made me examine my pre-existing stories, beliefs, perspectives, from all angles in more detail than I thought I ever wanted to before.
Going where it's messy, raw, vulnerable, scary, unknown, confronting, different, challenging and unconventional, has become almost a modus operandi for me since my teen years, intensified by life milestones, including parenthood with each of our three kids.
The parts of me which remained unchanged and only got stronger through it all? My intuition, the mind body connection I have, my gut instincts, how I tap into my power and ability to be fully present in the moment. Even and especially when, it is absolutely uncomfortable, painful, provocative, unfiltered and ugly.
Far out, eh? And what's even better has been, the more it's dialed in, honed, worked with, practiced and appreciated over the years, the more I can move through things with an optimism, faith and certainty I'm being supported, even if it's not 100 per cent visible or clear in the moment.
It's how I create things on the fly, feel at ease in my body when I'm in new spaces, manage my energy as a parent and professional, speak spontaneously on stages, in front of crowds or on a more intimate level with strangers.
It's where I receive 'divine downloads' like the one that has been telling me it's time to shift directions but not burn it all down. Which by the way, has been how many of my presentations, digital resources, initial pitch emails and serendipitous connections began.
If you're interested in developing your own self-trust, further defining your boundaries and showing up in alignment with your values as a parent AND a professional, this might be for you.
I'm putting together a small offering to work with under 10 parents before the summer season, to strengthen your own intuitive abilities and practice taking action beyond your current comfort zone, without going against your own body and energetic capacity, in real time.
If you're interested, reply to this email to discuss further. I won't try to convince you of anything because this is step one in the process: If you feel an urge to respond, a curiosity expanding, a visceral reaction to my words, you know what to do.
Whether it be showing up in your own home as a parent, at a new business event, online via a livestream or at a local community space, your presence can speak volumes and it doesn't have to be loud to capture attention, set the tone or get you results. This can be where the fun really begins!
During a time when so many things are being made redundant, automated, outsourced, exploited and systemized, it has never been more important for you to listen to your own gut instincts, mind body connection, nervous system, emotional intelligence and inner knowing.
Not only are they what make you human, they are the tools you will always have available to work with, no matter where you are, who you're with or what you're doing. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you are your own best guru, authority and advocate.
Thank you for reading, supporting this work and becoming part of a social impact movement that's continuing to make waves in business spaces, corporate cultures and individual lives.
