!
I hope your week is going great, and that you're staying anchored in God.
In case you missed it on Sunday, Bethany Neumeyer spoke on prayer and gave one of the best illustrations on the topic that I've ever heard.
She shared a story about trying to connect her music to a Bluetooth speaker, and that it wouldn't work. Turns out that the speaker was connected to a different device.
You might have experienced that before too. You can't figure out why your laptop speakers aren't working, and it turns out they're connected to a Bluetooth speaker in the other room.
Or maybe, like Bethany mentioned, you think that the Bluetooth is broken and doesn't work.
The thing that struck me is how often we really want to hear from God but (like the Bluetooth device) we don't hear anything. Why? We have not maintained a connection with God.
We're connected to news, social media, and entertainment to the nth degree, then wonder why we can't hear God.
It's not that He's not speaking. It's that we're not maintaining a connection with Him through prayer.
Let me encourage you to keep your connection with God strong. You might be trying to hear His guidance, or maybe need His voice of love and hope. Check the connection. Make sure it's strong and steady.
Martin Luther King Jr once said, "To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing."
By the way, if you missed it, and want to hear the message, you can do so here http://findmercy.net/anchored-part-3/
See you Sunday!
