Are you relying too much on spreadsheets?

Many SMB companies rely too heavily on spreadsheets. While company spreadsheets can be useful for quick calculations and data organization — and often excellent at designing a MVP (minimal viable product) for a budding business system need — over-reliance on spreadsheets can indicate deeper issues within your systems.
Using spreadsheets to manage complex data would likely be better handled by handled by a dedicated system (i.e. perhaps a CRM, ERP, MAP, LMS, BI, etc.). This is especially true that "one spreadsheet" is overly complex, prone to errors, or the linchpin you can't live without. All of those things can lead to poor decision-making and wasted resources. A well-designed system is meant to coordinate information and streamline activities, reducing the risk of error.
Spreadsheets dependance often stems from a lack of knowledge about available tools or the perception changing from existing systems won't really be worth it. On the flip side, without facing the options head-on there will be challenges (or missed opportunities) down the line, including data silos, inefficiencies, and scalability issues as your business grows.
Consider evaluating your current processes and exploring integrated solutions that can enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency. Evaluate transitioning from spreadsheets to systems that mitigate risks and empowers your team to focus on strategic initiatives.
