My new focus: making sure your business technology makes sense (& money!)

Hello ,

In 2014, I wrote a message to my network noting I was journeying to start my marketing technology firm full-time. As we approach the 10th anniversary of that message, I'm back with a new treatise and focus on helping clients...

Truisms have become apparent after working with 200+ paid clients and countless others pro bono in my communities. A big one is "there is no technology magic fairy dust."

Clients often would arrive to me with hopes whatever the current business concept or tech solution of the hour was could "fix all their problems." No: XYZ web app, CRM, marketing tactic, etc., is an end-all. Of course, I have been party to many successful projects. But whether it be a short-term issue or a huge endeavor, I've learned I'm probably not going to fix the big problems of a business with any one implementation.

"I did my job," I'd tell myself. I did do what I promised. But I wondered, "What about making bigger promises? Offering a more holistic technology approach, synced with business & marketing plans to allow them to play their cards better? What can I do to assist long-term success?"

That's why I've pivoted to focus on business technology strategy. In the last few years, post-pandemic, I've been working increasingly on tackling businesses' hairy technology & internal issues like technology platform decisions and other strategy concerns tied to their tech, marketing, sales, and overall goals.

Heading into this Fall, you'll hear from me via emails like this one. I'll talk more about what I am up to and how you can harness business technology in 2023 and beyond... and use it to your advantage.

*Hit reply and let me know how you use business tech in 2023. Or, Book a courtesy meeting to talk.*
