hidden DANGER in the "small" Offenses [EPHESIANS 4:31-32]

First Things First: Got Eternal Life?
"How dare you!?"
I could hear it in his voice. A friend was sharing a recent conversation he had with his wife.
The details are unique to them, but the potential result is something most of us can relate to.
As he explained what his wife was saying to him, and more importantly what he heard his wife saying...
I could tell he was OFFENDED.
It wasn't necessarily a major thing, but the small offenses can sometimes be more dangerous than major violations.
Because small offenses can build up.
Build up too many "small" offenses and they can turn into bitterness.
Bitterness is a DANGEROUS place to be.
So before the small offenses turn into bitterness, practice forgiveness.
In real time. In the moment. Forgive your spouse for offending you. Doesn't have to be out loud. Or it can be.
Just in your heart, forgive them. As God has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:31-32
"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."
QUESTIONS TO ASK:
Am I holding to any small offenses?
What do I need to forgive my spouse (or anyone else) for RIGHT NOW?
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for forgiving me. Help me to follow your model and show the same grace to my spouse. Help me to forgive. Help me to not be so easily offended. I release all the small offenses I've held on to. And I sincerely forgive. Thank you for the freedom in forgiveness. In Jesus' name Amen.
