When you DON'T Like Your Spouse [1 TIMOTHY 2:1-7]

First Things First: Got Eternal Life?
Who should we pray for?
Well...
Paul told Timothy to "pray for all people."
He said ask God to help them. Intercede for them. And be thankful for them.
Why?
Because it pleases God and He wants everyone to be saved and understand the truth.
What truth?
That there's one God and only Christ Jesus can reconcile them to God.
No exaggeration. Just truth.
What does this have to do with your marriage?
Everything.
There will be times you and your spouse won't want to pray for each other.
You'll be frustrated with each other. You may not even like each other.
There'll be times you and your spouse don't want to pray for other people.
You'll be frustrated with those people. You won't even like those people.
Paul would urge you to pray for ALL people. Your spouse. And others.
Even when you're frustrated.
Even when you don't like them.
THAT'S what's pleasing to God.
1 TIMOTHY 2:1-7
"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth."
QUESTIONS TO ASK:
Who is God telling me to pray for that I don't want to pray for?
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father forgive me please. Forgive me for not praying for ALL people. For not praying when I'm frustrated. Thank you for the opportunity now to repent and live how you have called me to live. Help me to pray that you would help others, to intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Help me to pray for people in authority and for my spouse so that we live peaceful lives marked by godliness and dignity. To spread the truth about who you are and Christ Jesus. Even when I'm frustrated. I love You. Now help me to have a prayer life that reflects my love for You. In Jesus' name, amen.
