Overlooking Offenses [PROVERBS 19:11]

First Things First: Got Eternal Life?

Sometimes it's a mistake.

Sometimes it's on purpose.

Sometimes it's something they say.

Sometimes it's something they do.

Either way, at some point...

Your spouse will offend you.

And you will offend your spouse.

But how do we overlook an offense (or a LOT of offenses)?

On our own, it can feel impossible.

But with God's help, we can forgive:

Because He forgave us.

Remembering that NONE of us are innocent without His grace, forgiveness, and love.

And it's our responsibility to reflect His grace, forgiveness, and love.

Especially in our marriage.

Proverbs 19:11

"A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense."

QUESTIONS TO ASK:

Are there any offenses I am still holding onto?

What do I need to forgive my spouse (or anyone else) for RIGHT NOW?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for forgiving me. Help me to follow your model and show the same grace to my spouse. Help me to forgive. Help me to not be so easily offended. I release all the small offenses I've held on to. And I sincerely forgive. Thank you for the freedom in forgiveness. In Jesus' name Amen.
