#NightPaper throwback with @tinydburlesque on a Manhattan rooftop back in 2015. Ah, the memories of warm summer nights making art in the heart of the City.
Throwback to ‘93 when I lived in Maribo, Denmark. The local camera club invited me to go out on a dusk/night shoot with them. I eagerly accepted. This was TMAX 3200 film and a short exposure (lucky guess... for real). But an early example of making portraits when it was kinda hard to do in low light. But THAT light source was irresistible.
You don’t always have to use a flash for a #nightportrait. This was my @coastportland HP7R flashlight with a CTO gel and Lance LED from @luxlilight Shot with Nikon’s 8mm zoom fisheye for that fun effect and an only slightly staged BTS of Lance light painting at our workshop with @nationalparksatnight in @chaco_culture_nhp
I’ve never published this rare and early photograph of mine. It was prolly 1995 and I was visiting my friend Neal in Toronto. We became friends in Denmark, Where we were both exchange students ‘93-‘94. While we were hanging out in his hometown, Neal and his amazing friends supported my passion for night photography and portraits by taking me to the train yards in downtown Toronto. This is a single exposure on TMAX 100 BW film with. Yashica FX3000 and Tamron 24-70mm lens plus a Vivatar 283 speed lite.
Throwback to yesteryear with a #nightpaper with @1risexplosion in NYC’s Central Park Bandshell.
Happy ? Halloween! Earlier this month I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jim Logan from @visitsleepyhollow. We staged this photo of the moon rising with a co junction with Mars. Pretty epic. I used five @nanliteusa PavoTubes, including a the mini 6C inside the pumpkin! Plus a speedlite of course. Second panel is the obligatory long lens shot of that moon.
...when you trust your tide app with the well-being of your gear—and it works! Phew. Some of you may not know the Hudson River is a tidal estuary all the way up to Troy. Imagine my surprise the first time I drop a canoe in it and expect to go one way and the canoe goes the other! Thus the TideGraphPro app ;-) This is a #BTS from my perseids sequence from a couple weeks ago. Getting Meta.
Just a quiet evening on the Hudson...
Macro is fun again for me. Expect a video in the future on this shoot that I prepared for a @novoflex webinar last week. For now enjoy the results and some BTS.
#nightpapaper is alive again, and swimming in the Hudson River.
