As stewards of our resources, we are called to make intentional choices, keeping in mind the wisdom imparted in Proverbs 21:20: "Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it." This wisdom extends to our holiday spending, offering us an opportunity to reflect on the meaningfulness of our choices.

It's easy to get swept away by the holiday rush, but as stewards of our resources, we are called to make thoughtful choices.

Pause and reflect on the upcoming gift-giving season with the following questions:

a. Who is expecting a gift from me?

b. Who do I intend to buy gifts for?

c. How much money do they want me to spend?

d. How much money do I plan to spend?

Take the case that the wiser questions are (b) and (d) because they reflect design instead of drift (or the ever-nebulous "it depends").

Let these questions guide you in aligning your spending with your values, and promoting intentional choices that honor both your loved ones and God.

Heavenly Father, grant me the wisdom to navigate the holiday season with thoughtful spending. Guide me as I consider the expectations of those receiving gifts and help me align my choices with both their desires and my budget. May my actions reflect intentional stewardship of the resources You have entrusted to me, bringing joy to others and myself while honoring Your name. Amen.
