Day 3 | God wasn't surprised
Apr 05, 2023 10:01 am
Scripture: And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” But he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same. (Mark 14:26-31)
Reflection: In this passage, we see Jesus predicting that his disciples will fall away from him. Peter insists that he will never deny Jesus, but we know that he ultimately does so three times. Despite their failures, Jesus continues to love his disciples unconditionally. He does not turn away from them or condemn them, but instead, he offers them hope by promising to meet them in Galilee after his resurrection. This passage is a reminder that even when we fail, Christ's love for us remains steadfast and unwavering.
Prayer: I pray, Lord Jesus, and thank you for your unconditional love and forgiveness. Please help me to trust in your promises and have faith in the midst of my doubts and failures. Help me to remember that your love for me is not based on my performance, but rather on your character and your sacrifice on the cross. Please strengthen me to follow you even when it is difficult, and to trust in your presence and guidance in my life. I give you my doubts and fears and ask for your peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.
Get into Action: Take some time to reflect on a time when you may have failed in your relationship with Christ. Remember that his love for you remains unchanged and that he continues to offer you grace and forgiveness. Consider reaching out to someone who may need to hear this message of hope and reminding them of Christ's unconditional love for them.
