What did it cost?

I'm a late-blooming Marvel fan, and loved Avengers: Infinity War.
In one pivotal scene (and I'm going to assume you've seen it or don't plan on seeing it), Thanos, the villain, finds himself inside the world of the Soul Stone. There he meets a reflection of a young Gamora, his daughter, and tells her he finally completed his mission.
They then have this two-line exchange:
Gamora: What did it cost?
Thanos: Everything.
Thanos is right. It cost him everything, including his daughter, whom he sacrificed to obtain the Soul Stone.
: What does this have to do with my marriage?
Kevin: Everything.
There are some ways you're being, some things you’re believing, and some actions you're taking that are undermining your marriage, eroding trust, crippling communication, and generally sacrificing everything you've worked for all these years.
The illusion is that in real-time they seem worth it. It's only in hindsight that we can see the real costs.
So, what can you do about that in the present? Go into the future in your mind, and look back at now. Reflect on how you're being, what you're believing, and how the actions you're taking could be messing up your marriage.
Then, come back to the present, consider how you want things to be in the future, and do what's required in the now to build a marriage that works.
: What will it cost?
Kevin: Everything, and it'll be worth it all.
