God's faithfulness is not fleeting or conditional

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. / Psalm 86:15 (NIV)
Verse 1 of the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" beautifully captures the essence of God's unchanging faithfulness.
It says, "Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be."
In a world where everything seems to change, where uncertainties abound, and where human faithfulness can falter, we can find solace and hope in the steadfast faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. God's faithfulness is not fleeting or conditional; it is constant, unwavering, and enduring.
As we reflect on the truth of God's faithfulness, we are reminded that His character remains unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Just as there is no shifting shadow in Him, there is no inconsistency or unpredictability in His faithfulness (James 1:17). We can rely on Him with full confidence, knowing that He will never fail us.
The hymn reminds us that as God has been faithful in the past, He will forever be faithful. His faithfulness is not limited to a specific season or circumstance. It transcends time and extends into eternity. We can anchor our trust in His faithfulness, knowing that He will continue to be with us, sustain us, and work out His plans for our lives.
Let us take comfort in the knowledge that God's faithfulness is not dependent on our circumstances or our performance. It is a reflection of His unchanging nature and His deep love for us. In our moments of doubt, fear, or uncertainty, we can turn to Him, confident that His faithfulness will never falter.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, great is Your faithfulness, O God, my Father. Thank You for the assurance that there is no shadow of turning with You. I am grateful that Your compassions never fail and Your faithfulness is unchanging. Help me to anchor my trust in Your unwavering faithfulness, especially in times of uncertainty. Strengthen my faith and fill my heart with hope as I rely on Your promises. Thank You for being with me in every season of life, and for the comfort and assurance Your faithfulness brings. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Activity
In a notebook or online journal, write your own hymn lyrics. By doing so, you'll be like Thomas Chisolm, writer of Great is Thy Faithfulness, who penned his lyrics during a time of financial and health struggles. Write whatever's there for you, just make sure the lyrics are about God's character.
E.g., Lord, you are faithful to me. You have always been faithful to me. Jesus' death on Calvary showed your love for me. I am your child and secure in you. On earth and for eternity, I'll sing praises to you.
