Blessed are the Flexible

I mentioned in yesterday's email that I learned some really good lessons while at a high ropes course.
The first lesson was about expecting rubber chickens.
Here's the second lesson: be flexible.
The facilitator who led the group is fond of saying, "Blessed are the flexible for they shall not get bent out of shape."
How true.
I don't know how you are with your mate, but I tend to be pretty rigid in my expectations of Cetelia. When they're disappointed, so am I. When they're stretched, so am I.
Perhaps the worst part is that Cetelia suffers right along with me.
I'm bothered, then react to her in a way that shows I'm bothered.
Then you've got two upset people over what's often a minor thing.
I feel kinda hypocritical offering counsel in this area given my own struggles. Therefore, I'll point you to the same verse I'm considering: be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6).
As I consider why I get bent out of shape, it has to do with being anxious about what's going to happen next since the way I envisioned the situation is not coming to fruition.
How about you? Why do you get so bent out of shape?
Whatever the reason, it's key to remember that our inflexibility messes us up, and has the ability to mess up the marriage.
Blessed are the flexible, for their marriage will not get bent out of shape.
