Day 2 | Tackling Your To-Do List
Mar 21, 2023 10:01 am
Scripture: Put everything you do in the hands of God, and your plans will be successful. (Proverbs 16:3, GNT)
Reflection: In our fast-paced world, it's easy to lose sight of the tasks that are truly important amidst the urgency of day-to-day demands. Thankfully, the Bible reminds us of the importance of wise time management and task prioritization.
It's also crucial to recognize that urgent tasks aren't always synonymous with important ones, and vice versa. Sometimes, seemingly pressing tasks can actually serve as distractions from the more crucial work that requires attention. Therefore, taking the time to prayerfully prioritize tasks and focus on the essential ones can help us make real progress towards our goals and ultimately achieve greater success.
Pro Tip: I learned about a cool way to prioritize work several years ago. And, given we're in the midst of March Madness, the technique is really relevant: run a single-elimination tournament with your tasks to determine which has highest priority. Below is an example bracket to show you how it works (note: after I run the tournament, I work on 1 through 4, and will get to whatever's below the line if I have time that day). Here's a blank bracket to print for your own use.
Prayer: Dear God, please help me to be wise with my time and prioritize my tasks. Guide me in focusing on what's truly essential and avoiding distractions that keep me from achieving my goals. Help me to trust in You and remember that Your plans for me are good. Amen.
Get into Action: Take some time today to evaluate your to-do list and prioritize your tasks. Identify what's truly urgent and what's not, and make a plan to focus on what's most important. Remember that not all urgent tasks are important, and not all non-urgent tasks are equal. By prioritizing wisely, you can achieve greater success and fulfillment in your work.
