Traffic Jams, Slow Email, and Jerry Jones
Oct 03, 2023 2:31 pm
This morning's Going Deeper devo came out hours after I had it scheduled to send. I regret that. I realize it's an inconvenience, especially if you've built reading the devo into your morning routine, like my man, Allan O.
You may be asking, "What happened? Where was it?"
I'd like to answer those questions using DFW traffic as a metaphor.
Imagine you have to be at your destination at X time, so you leave early enough to account for typical congestion on 30, 35, 45, 75, 45, and/or 635.
Everything's fine until it's not. Traffic is beyond slow. In fact, it's not moving at all, and that's because the highway has been completely shut down due to a massive sink hole opening up. There's not much you can do except for wait for things to clear up so you can get to your destination.
That's the equivalent of what happened this morning. Although I had today's Going Deeper scheduled to hit your inbox by 4 AM cst, the email servers that send out the devo - and emails for thousands of other creators - ground to a halt. All we could do was wait for tech support to get things back online.
The company I use has had a good track record for years, and I trust them to prevent issues like this from becoming routine.
Thanks for your patience, and I'm sorry about the inconvenience.
As for this DFW traffic, maybe we should all take a cue from Jerry Jones and consider helicopters as our transportation of choice!
Have a good day!
