Day 4 | Counting the Cost

Mar 30, 2023 10:01 am

Scripture: Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? (Luke 14:28-30)

Reflection: , before we begin any task or project, it is important to count the cost and consider whether you have what it takes to finish well. This means thinking about the time, energy, accountability, and resources required and making a plan to ensure you can see the task through to completion. By counting the cost upfront, you can avoid - or at least slow - getting overwhelmed or burned out later on.

Prayer: Lord, help me to count the cost before beginning any task or project. Give me wisdom to finish well and to make a plan that will enable me to see the task through to completion. Amen.

Get into Action: Think about a task or project you have been putting off. Take some time to count the cost and make a plan for how you will see it through to completion.
