Maybe he didn't mean what you heard

We often get bent out of shape over what our spouse says.
It's probably more accurate that we get bent out of shape over what we think we heard our spouse say.
For example ...
Our spouse can say, "Okay" to a comment we make, and we can think he/she is being a sarcastic jerk.
We ask, "Okay?!? What is that supposed to mean."
Befuddled, our spouse says, "It means okay."
This is a perfect illustration showing how we provide meaning to what we hear, and how at times it's destructive.
As you go through today, give some attention to the tension you're creating in your marriage due to faulty meaning.
