Learning from Jesus' Grief in John 11:35
Dec 18, 2023 11:25 am
In the quiet moments of our grief, it's essential to acknowledge the power of tears. Crying is often seen as a vulnerability, a sign of weakness, but, surprisingly, it holds a profound significance in our journey of healing. Even Jesus, in his profound moment of sorrow, shed tears. John 11:35 reminds us of this poignant truth: "Jesus wept."
Crying is a natural response to pain and loss. It's not a sign of frailty but a testament to the depth of our emotions. In a world that sometimes encourages us to suppress our tears, we must recognize that embracing our vulnerability is a step towards true strength.
When we allow ourselves to cry, we release pent-up emotions, granting our heart the space it need to heal. It's a courageous act, defying societal expectations that tell us to "be strong" or for males, to "man up." Jesus, in his tears, showed us that even the Son of God experienced the weight of human sorrow.
So, let us not shy away from our tears. Instead, let them flow, knowing that in each drop, there is a step towards healing. In our moments of vulnerability, we find the strength to face the pain, trusting that God collects our tears and offers comfort (Psalm 56:8). As we grieve, may we be reminded that tears are not a sign of defeat but a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
