Reconciled to God, and thankful for it

As we gather on this Thanksgiving day, our hearts are naturally drawn to expressions of gratitude for the blessings that surround us. In the midst of our thanksgiving, let's reflect on the profound truth encapsulated in 2 Corinthians 5:20 — "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us."

As ambassadors for Christ, we carry a message of reconciliation. This is not just a theological concept; it's a call to action in the trenches of everyday life. In the midst of our feasting and celebration, let's ponder the significance of being messengers of love and redemption.

Thanksgiving, at its core, is an acknowledgment of the good things we've received. In the same spirit, our role as ambassadors is rooted in the ultimate expression of goodness — the sacrificial love of Christ. For our sake, God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin, so that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God.

So, in the midst of our Thanksgiving festivities, let's carry the message of reconciliation in our hearts. As we express gratitude for the tangible blessings around us, may we also share the intangible gift of Christ's love with those we encounter. Our thanksgiving becomes even more meaningful when we extend the invitation to others to be reconciled to God through Christ.

Reflection

1. How does the message of reconciliation influence the way you express gratitude on Thanksgiving?

2. In what ways can you share the message of Christ's love and redemption with those around you during this holiday season?

3. Reflect on a specific blessing for which you are thankful. How might you use that gratitude as a bridge to share the message of reconciliation with others?
