"I wanted to talk with you before going to the divorce attorney," read the text a husband sent me three days ago.

This husband has been married for 2 months.

He and his wife have had all sorts of issues in the past 60 days — verbal fights, anger boiling over, cops called, threats made, names called, texts to old friends erased, lies told, parents consulted, etc.

On the surface, it doesn't look like this couple is going to make it.

I spent two hours with them yesterday, and what I can tell you is that although there are hurt feelings, suspicion and some doubt, there's still a desire to make their marriage work.

Guard your heart .... that's where desire is born and flourishes, and where it wavers and dies.

My prayer is that you won't be passive in watching over your heart.
