Correction: Day 3 | Recognizing Envy & Jealousy
May 24, 2023 10:01 am
Dear ,
Today's devotion is based on Romans 12:15: Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
If you recall from Sunday's message, I mentioned that rejoicing with others can be tough when we are envious or jealous of them.
As I replayed Sunday's message in my head, I realized that I switched up the definitions for envy and jealousy. I'm sorry about that.
To straighten it out:
Envy is a resentful desire where we want what we don't have, and resent those who have what we want.
Jealousy is a defensive desire where we feel the threat of losing what we do have to someone else.
Instead of writing a devotion for you, I highly, highly, highly recommend you take the time to watch a gripping sermon by my friend, Jamin Roller. He's the teaching pastor at Christ Church in Plano.
Why do I highly recommend you watch this video? Because you will gain access to freedom and peace that envy and jealousy have silently stolen from you.
