Scripture: Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect. (Romans 12:2, GNT)

Reflection: The word "transformation" means to change into a completely different form. In this verse, Paul urges us to allow God to transform us inwardly by changing our minds completely. When we become Christians, our minds are often still influenced by the values and attitudes of the world around us. We need to undergo a transformation so that we can think and act differently according to God's will.

What does this transformation look like, ? It involves a renovation of our attitudes, values, and behaviors, so that we conform to the standards of God's kingdom instead of the world. It means rejecting the ways of the world, such as materialism, selfishness, and pride, and instead embracing God's ways, such as humility, love, and generosity.

Transformation also involves allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us and change us from the inside out. It may take time and effort, but with God's help, we can become, and thus look more like Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to undergo a complete transformation by changing my mind and conforming to your will. Help me to reject the values of the world and embrace your ways of love, humility, and generosity. Please work in me by your Holy Spirit and change me from the inside out. Amen.

Get into Action: Take some time to identify an area of your life where you have been conforming to the standards of the world instead of God's standards (hint: pay attention to areas where you used to think something was off-limits, but now you've decided they're okay depending upon the situation). Pray and ask God to help you change your thinking and behavior in that area. Also, confess the area(s) to someone who can hold you accountable.
